การใช้ would you like กับ do you like
มีการใช้ต่างกัน ดังนี้
1. ถ้าถามเพื่อการเชิญหรือความปรารถนา ความต้องการของผู้อื่น หรือเมื่อเชิญให้ผู้อื่นกระทำสิ่งใดสิ่งหนึ่ง นิยมใช้ would you like ตามด้วย verb infinitive with to ในที่นี้ would like หมายถึง want และมักตามด้วย adverb of time เช่น
Would you like to watch the news today?
Would you like to come to the party on Saturday at the Hilton Hotel?
2. ถ้าถามเกี่ยวกับความชอบ หรือความเคยชิน ของผู้อื่น นิยมใช้ do you like ตามด้วย verb infinitive with to ในที่นี่ like หมายถึง enjoy โดยมากมักมีคำหรือวลี ที่แสดงถึงการกระทำที่เกอดขึ้นอย่างสม่ำเสมอ เช่น
Do you like to watch the news every day?
Do you like to have tea every afternoon?
การใช้ must ( ต้อง )
1. เมื่อพูดถึงเหตุการณ์ที่เกิดขึ้นประจำและสม่ำเสมอ ตามด้วย verb infinitive with to
เช่น My friend must call often.
2. พูดถึงเหตุการณ์ที่กำลังเกิดขึ้น ใช้ must be v.ing + present time
เช่น My friend must be calling now.
3. เมื่อเราคาดถึงเหตูการณ์ที่ได้เกิดขึ้นแล้วในอดีต ใช้ must have + V.3 + past time
My friend must have called last night.
